Sisal is a durable material that can be used inside and outside the home. We choose to keep our sisal natural, so the rope has not been through any bleaching process. As a result, the sisal does retain a natural odor. This odor will dissipate over time, but if you prefer an odor-free product, we recommend either the cotton or softline option. As a natural product, there will always be slight color variations and imperfections in the sisal.

Cotton is a softer material that is more suitable for indoor-only cats. It is gentle on a cat’s paw but isn’t as durable as sisal and should only be installed inside the home. The last option is softline, which is a material used in the yacht industry. It has all the appearances of sisal but is a man-made product. This rope is waterproof and does not stretch, making it an ideal option for outdoor installations.
